Permits, timelines, licensing and what actually happens on a jobsite. If your question is not here, call us at (646) 673-4424.
Submit your project details through our form, and once we review your submission, we will reach out the same day or by the next business day to schedule an on-site visit. You can also call us directly at (646) 673-4424. We are available Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During our on-site visit, we sit down with you to discuss all the key details of your project, including the scope, budget, material choices, timeline, and overall vision so we can provide an accurate written proposal.
Site visits are scheduled after an intro call. We discuss project scope, fee if applicable, and timeline when we book. The visit itself includes measurements, a review of what is behind the existing finishes where we can see it, and a written scope with a price. We price from seeing the space rather than over the phone, because the condition behind existing finishes is not something anyone can quote sight-unseen.
We serve Queens, Westchester County, and the Bronx, working within roughly 60 miles north of our base in Elmhurst, Queens. That includes Rye, Harrison, Purchase, Larchmont, Pelham, White Plains, Scarsdale, New Rochelle, Bronxville, and surrounding areas. If you are unsure whether your address falls inside our range, call and ask. It takes one minute to confirm.
Further than most people expect, because approvals and materials, not construction, usually set the finish date. Permit review can run three to four weeks in some Westchester villages and four to eight weeks for a New York City DOB filing, and full custom cabinetry commonly runs eight to twelve weeks and can reach sixteen. We identify both at the estimate.
When it comes to the price of a bathroom, kitchen, or full remodel in NYC, costs vary depending on the design, size, and quality of materials used for the project. Here is a good index to see whether it is worth the investment: according to Remodeling's 2025 Cost vs. Value Report for NYC (referenced via JLC), a midrange 5x7 ft bathroom remodel averaging $30,376 returns 76.5%, while an upscale bathroom with a cost of $90,686 gets you 40.1% back when you sell your home. So, you invest the money now, enjoy your bath for years to come, and when it's time to move on, you're still benefiting from an investment made years ago.
Once permits are approved and materials are on site, a bathroom runs one to four weeks, a kitchen two to six, a basement three to eight, and a whole-home renovation eight to sixteen, with tile, flooring, drywall, painting and carpentry scopes running one to two weeks on their own. The approvals and material lead times usually take longer than any of that. Board review in a co-op runs weeks to months, a DOB Alteration Type 2 filing commonly takes four to eight weeks after submission, and cabinetry can add eight to sixteen weeks on its own. All of it sits ahead of demolition.
We price it and put it in writing before proceeding, and we tell you what it does to the completion date at the same time. Changes discovered behind a wall are common in older homes, which is why we look at what we can see before quoting. What should never happen is work executed first and explained afterward.
No. We do not offer financing or payment plans. If that is a requirement for your project, it is worth knowing before you spend time on an estimate with us.
It depends on scope and location, and the threshold is lower than most people assume. Work altering plumbing, gas or electrical generally requires a filing everywhere we work. Some municipalities go further. The Village of Bronxville requires a building permit for the alteration or replacement of cabinetry, countertops, sinks, tile and fixtures, which is work New York City would not require a filing for. We identify what applies at the estimate.
No. There is no county building permit. Permits are issued by your municipality's building department, and the county has 48 of them, each administering independently under the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code. What the county issues is the contractor's Home Improvement License, which is a separate thing entirely.
For Westchester, call the county Department of Consumer Protection at (914) 995-2155 with the license number, where you can also ask about outstanding judgments or liens. There is a physical check too: licensed contractors must display a green sticker on the rear bumper of their vehicle showing the license expiration date. For New York City, license status can be checked with the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection.
Yes, a small number do in addition to the county license. Yonkers is one: the city requires a Yonkers Home Improvement Contractor's License from its Consumer Protection Bureau before a permit will be issued on a one-to-three-family dwelling. Always ask whether a contractor holds the license for your specific city, not just the county.
The board. Your alteration agreement is a binding contract between you and the building that sets what work is permitted and what documentation is required, and it governs before the building code does. Board review commonly runs from a few weeks to a few months, and it sits ahead of the DOB filing rather than beside it. Request a copy from your managing agent before planning anything.
Yes. Every project we complete carries a one-year workmanship warranty. It covers our own labour and installation: if something we built or installed fails within twelve months because of how the work was done, we come back and correct it at no charge. Manufacturer warranties on materials, fixtures and appliances are separate and run for whatever term the manufacturer sets. The warranty term is written into your contract, not just stated on this page.
Yes. Kadima Construction carries $1,000,000 in general liability insurance. If you live in a co-op or condo, your board or managing agent will typically require a certificate of insurance naming the building, the managing agent and sometimes the board itself as additional insured before work can begin. Send us their required format with your estimate request and we will return it the same week.
A walk-through with you before we call the job done. Water runs, doors and drawers get adjusted, appliances get tested, and we go through the finished work together so nothing is signed off before you have seen it. The punch list is completed while our crew is still on site rather than scheduled for a return visit at an unspecified date.
Bathroom remodeling, kitchen remodeling, full home renovation, basement renovation, ceramic tile installation, wood and vinyl flooring installation, drywall and painting, and carpentry including closets and trim. Bathrooms are our most requested work.
Those trades carry their own licensing, and we coordinate them rather than claiming them. Gas line connections in New York City must be performed by a licensed master plumber, a legal requirement rather than a preference, and Westchester County licenses plumbers and electricians separately from home improvement contractors. One crew lead runs your project from demolition to final walk-through, every trade is coordinated through us on our schedule and held to our quality standard, and you never have to coordinate between separate companies.
Yes. Tile, flooring, drywall repair, painting, carpentry and closets are all available as standalone scopes without a larger renovation attached. The same containment and daily cleanup applies, because finish work generates dust in rooms you are still living in.
