Full-Service Kitchen Remodeling

A kitchen touches more trades than any other room in a house: cabinetry, counters, plumbing, gas, electrical, ventilation, flooring and tile all landing in the same space in a fixed order. We run the whole sequence as one managed scope with one point of contact, across Queens, Westchester County and the Bronx.

The Two Decisions That Set Your Schedule

Most kitchen projects do not run late because of construction. They run late because of two decisions made early and underestimated.

Cabinets are the long pole

Lead time is set by what you choose, not by how fast anyone works. Stock typically arrives in one to three weeks, semi-custom in four to seven, and full custom commonly in eight to twelve weeks, sometimes sixteen. Spring and fall are peak renovation seasons, which stretches those windows, and any change after you approve the order restarts part of the clock. We price the cabinet decision at the estimate with its real lead time attached, because it is usually the date everything else is built around.

Venting and gas decide your permit path

  • Range hood. Under the New York City Mechanical Code a domestic kitchen hood must discharge outdoors unless it is listed and labeled for recirculation and the space has adequate mechanical or natural ventilation. Installing or modifying a kitchen exhaust system generally requires a mechanical work permit, and the DOB filing must be made by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect. Ducting outdoors also raises make-up air, since exhausted air has to be replaced.
  • Gas. Every gas line connection must be made by a licensed master plumber. That is not a preference but a city requirement, and gas work cannot legally be self-performed by a homeowner or general contractor anywhere in the five boroughs. Replacing a range in place is usually straightforward. Moving it means new piping, a permit pulled by the plumber, and inspection. Your building will also want the plumber's license copy, a certificate of insurance, and proof of the filing.

Deciding the hood in week six is how a kitchen loses a month.

Types of Kitchen Work We Handle

Full Kitchen Remodels

Everything out, layout reconsidered, all trades resequenced. The scope where cabinet lead time and permit path matter most, because both are decided before demolition rather than during it.

Cabinetry & Countertops

Stock, semi-custom or full custom, with counters templated after the boxes are set rather than before. Templating early is one of the most common causes of a re-cut.

Layout Changes & Wall Removal

Opening a kitchen to a dining or living space. Whether the wall is load-bearing changes the filing, the schedule and the price, so it is answered before anything is drawn.

Backsplash & Tile

Tile is set after counters are installed and templated, and the layout is planned so cuts land where they are least visible. Also available as standalone work.

Kitchen Flooring

Hardwood, engineered wood or tile, with subfloor preparation included. Sequenced against cabinet delivery so the floor is not damaged by the installation that follows it.

How We Work

We measure, look at how you actually use the kitchen, and identify the two schedule drivers: cabinet type and the venting and gas path, and you leave with a written scope and price. Cabinets, counters, tile, fixtures and appliances chosen and ordered against a dated sequence, because a change after approval costs weeks. Containment before demolition, one crew lead running the job, trades sequenced so nobody waits on anybody, the site cleaned at the end of every working day. Doors and drawers adjusted, appliances tested, punch list completed before we call the job done.

A major renovation shouldn't disrupt your daily life. We focus on clear communication, clean jobsites, and straightforward honesty from day one. Our process is built to respect your time and get the job done right, so you can start enjoying your newly transformed home as soon as possible.

Why Homeowners Choose Us for Kitchens

You get the lead times before you commit.

Cabinet windows and the permit path are on the estimate, not revealed after the contract. It is the difference between a schedule and a hope.

Licensed in both jurisdictions we serve.

NYC DCWP #2132-535-DCWP and Westchester County #WC-39446-H20-25, published in full and verifiable with either agency.

The sequence is the craft.

Counters templated after boxes are set, tile after counters, flooring protected against the delivery that follows. Most kitchen defects are sequencing errors, not workmanship errors.

Your home stays livable.

A kitchen is out of service longer than a bathroom, so we plan the interim with you at the estimate. Containment goes up before demolition; the site is cleared daily.

One crew lead, start to finish.

One crew lead runs your project from demolition to final walk-through. Every trade, from plumbing to tile to finish carpentry, is coordinated through us, on our schedule, held to our quality standard. You never have to coordinate between separate companies.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

Our kitchen builds run two to six weeks depending on scope, once permits are approved and the cabinets have landed. Cabinet lead time is what usually decides the finish date rather than the build itself. Stock arrives in one to three weeks, semi-custom in four to seven, and full custom commonly in eight to twelve and sometimes sixteen. Permit review, where the scope requires a filing, sits ahead of all of it.

How long do kitchen cabinets take to arrive?

It depends on the type: stock typically arrives in one to three weeks, semi-custom in about four to seven, and full custom commonly in eight to twelve weeks, sometimes sixteen. Spring and fall are peak seasons and stretch those windows. Any change after you approve the order adds time, which is why selections are locked before ordering.

Does my range hood have to vent outside?

Usually yes. Under the New York City Mechanical Code a domestic kitchen hood must discharge outdoors unless it is listed and labeled for recirculation and the space has adequate mechanical or natural ventilation. Installing or modifying an exhaust system generally requires a mechanical work permit, with the DOB filing made by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect.

Who does the gas line work?

A licensed master plumber, always. New York City requires that every gas line connection be made by one, and gas work cannot legally be self-performed by a homeowner or a general contractor anywhere in the five boroughs. We coordinate that trade, the permit the plumber pulls, and the documentation your building will ask for: typically the license copy, a certificate of insurance, and proof of the DOB filing.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel?

It depends on scope and location. Replacing cabinets, counters and finishes in place often does not trigger a filing, while altering plumbing, gas or electrical generally does, and in New York City, work involving the exhaust system or gas piping carries its own permit requirements. Westchester municipalities each issue their own permits, so the answer changes by town. We identify what your project needs at the estimate.

When do I have to choose everything?

Earlier than most people expect. Cabinets are finalized first because they carry the longest lead time and everything else is dimensioned around them. Counters are templated after the boxes are set, and tile follows the counters. Appliances must be selected before cabinetry is ordered, since their dimensions and venting requirements change the cabinet plan.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Kadima Construction holds NYC DCWP license #2132-535-DCWP and Westchester County home improvement license #WC-39446-H20-25, and carries $1,000,000 in general liability insurance. The two are issued separately, so a contractor licensed only in New York City is not licensed for home improvement work in the county, and the reverse is also true. Both numbers are published on every page of this site.
